Locum Pathologist Opportunity - Weekday Coverage and Call

Overview

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• No scheduled overtime
• Possible night call
• 24-hour weekend call coverage as needed
• EMR System: Cerner
• Full privileges available

Responsibilities:

• Sign out pathology cases with accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform grossing on surgical specimens, with histotech assistance for small biopsies and slide preparation.
• Provide expert consultations and respond to clinician inquiries.
• Review and interpret blood smears as necessary.
• Address transfusion-related issues and ensure proper blood bank practices.
• Conduct cellular adequacy assessments for FNAs and CT-guided biopsies.
• Participate in night call coverage and handle urgent cases.

Requirements:

• Board Certified/Eligible in Pathology
• Minimum 1 year of experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review
• Illinois State Medical License required
• CSR License Required
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage caseloads.
• Strong communication skills for clinician interactions.
